At Vivekanand Nagar - Hiwra, the Birthday of Swami Vivekananda is celebrated like a Fair with great
pomp. Over 200,200 devotees from all over Maharashtra converge here. The celebrations last for 3
days. On the third day people from all castes and religions sit together on a 40 acre field and have food
which they call 'Maha Prasad' Serving of food is done by a team of 1000 plus volunteers with the use of
100 tractors and vans. Religious and Spiritual lectures & discourses are organized during this glorious event.
This largest single gathering of people from all castes and religions is a role model for all religions uniting together.
This has been made possible on account of the social awakening brought about by Shukadas Maharaj.
Shukadas Maharaj is a "Karma Yogi" by his acts and deeds. On his Birthday, hundreds of his devotees and well - wishers come to Vivekanand Ashram to pay their respects and seek his blessings. Bhajans and Kirtans are organized in the Ashram Campus.
In the earlier years there were no temples for the villagers to go and offer their prayers. They had to walk long distances for this purpose.
On the request of the villagers and with many of them offering their labour free, Shukadas Maharaj organized the construction of couple
of small temples in the beginning and subsequently he organized the building of two large temples. The temples being dedicated to
different Hindu Gods, the villagers from far and near come to offer prayers at these temples and, at the same time, contribute small donations
within their giving capacity. The Ashram conducts all popular festivals dedicated to different Gods-, Lord Krishna's Birthday,
Navratri festival and Guru Purnima Poojan, etc. with the active participation of the villagers.
